Open eGov LocalSigner, the eSignature software previously provided free of charge by the Swiss Confederation, will be discontinued at the end of 2022. Since the disappearance of SuisseID, eSignatures in Switzerland are mainly offered «in the cloud». Therefore, the Open eGov LocalSigner can no longer be used.
For most of the 54,000 Open eGov LocalSigner users, it is not justifiable to transfer confidential documents to a signature service in the cloud for signing.
