From Open eGov LocalSigner to eSignR
The end of the Open eGov LocalSigner
Open eGov LocalSigner, the eSignature software previously provided free of charge by the Swiss Confederation, will be discontinued at the end of 2022. Since the disappearance of SuisseID, eSignatures in Switzerland are mainly offered «in the cloud». Therefore, the Open eGov LocalSigner can no longer be used.
The future – the new eSignR
For most of the 54,000 Open eGov LocalSigner users, it is not justifiable to transfer confidential documents to a signature service in the cloud for signing. This is where eSignR from the makers of LocalSigner comes in. Like the previous Open eGov LocalSigner, eSignR is a signature software available for Windows, macOS and Linux that ensures confidential documents never leave the user’s own device.
